(San Francisco, CA)  --  Apple is offering up its latest operating system at no charge for most users.  

The company lifted the lid on the update to OSX at a California event.  Mavericks will be available starting today.  

Mavericks will be available to those currently using software dating back to 2007.

Apple also unveiled the iPad air, which  is the latest generation in the company's tablet line. It's the lightest full size tablet in the world at just one pound.

It will begin shipping November 1st and will start at $499 for the 16 gigabyte model.  The iPad mini will be slashed to $299.

The iPad Air features a ten-hour battery life and the eye-catching retina display.

A new high-powered Mac Pro was introduced that will be made in America and carry a price of just under $3,000.  The computer is designed especially for those in the media industry.  It's set to be available by the end of the year.
