Free Microchip For your Pet

Animal Welfare Department is offering FREE Microchipping

To residents of Albuquerque – No appointment needed

Albuquerque — The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is offering to microchip dogs and cats for FREE. The offer is good to all residents of Albuquerque. The free service can be obtained from August 6 through August 11, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Westside Shelter and Eastside Shelter. No appointment is needed.

You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license to microchip your pets. The pet's microchip will be registered to the ID holder. When you are having your animal microchipped, you will need to fill out paperwork that comes with the microchip so the microchip can be properly registered. The information that you list on these forms will be the guide to finding you if the animal is ever lost or recovered.

It is essential to ensure that the details linked to your pet’s microchip remain up-to-date so the pet can be successfully identified. Animal Welfare shelters provide all-year-round free service to check on a pet’s microchip.
