A List: The Best Christmas Cities In America

Christmas is all about spending time with family for some folks, while others like to spend the holiday where there are lots of seasonal events, good shopping and dining options. It turns out, some places in the country are home to all of those and a new report from WalletHub reveals where they are.

  • They ranked the 100 biggest U.S. cities to determine the Best Cities for Christmas 2023.
  • The cities were rated on 28 key indicators in the main areas of traditions and fun, observance, generosity, shopping and costs.
  • Topping the list is Atlanta, Georgia, which comes in fifth for generosity and shopping, and eighth for traditions and fun. But it’s not cheap, landing at 70 for costs.
  • New York City, 15th overall, is number one for traditions and fun, while Birmingham, Alabama, 10th overall, comes in first for observance.
  • Seattle, which is seventh overall, is first for generosity, while Las Vegas, fourth overall, is number one for shopping, and Wichita, Kansas, 28th overall, is first for costs.
  • On the flip side, the worst city to celebrate Christmas this year is Hialeah, Florida, which comes in dead last for observance and near the bottom for generosity, shopping and costs.
