New Guidance Recommends Women Getting Mammograms Beginning At 40

There's a new update to a national task force guidance for breast cancer screenings. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force is now recommending women between the ages 40 to 74 to get a mammogram every other year. Previous USPSTF guidelines made in 2016 said bi-ennial mammograms should start by age 50 and the decision for women to screen in their 40s was at their discretion. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women in the U.S behind skin cancer.
