BILL MURRAY: Shows Up at Ice Cream Social

Bill Murray has shown time and time again that he has a knack for making a day better just by making a surprise appearance, and he's done it again -- this time appearing at an ice cream social.

Aspiring actor and ice cream maker Joe Nicchi owns an ice cream truck and found out that Murray was filming a movie up the block, so he parked his truck near the set and hosted a "Bill Murray Ice Cream Social." He hoped his ice cream would lure his idol to the truck and it worked. Murray found out about it and walked over for some soft-serve. Nicchi says “He was so complimentary, he even tried to pay me but I refused to take money from him. I said, ‘I just wanted to meet you, you’re my inspiration,’ and he was so receptive and so nice." It turns out this isn't the first time Nicchi used his ice cream to meet celebrities. He's previously hosted a "Courtney Cox Ice Cream Social" and a "Halle Berry Ice Cream Social" near sets where they were filming. (People)

JENNETTE McCURDY: Responds to Sam & Cat Cancellation

Jennette McCurdy has broken her silence about the cancellation of Sam & Cat-- and she came out fighting.

In a lengthy post on Reddit, the actress -- who caused waves earlier this year when she posted racy selfies -- writes, "I left Nickelodeon recently because I needed to move forward with my life... I don't believe people should attack me because their image of me is destroyed after I post a harmless, sultry photo."

The 22-year-old added, "I am not a role model. I don't claim to be, I don't try to be, and I don't want to be."

Sam & Cat was put on indefinite hiatus in April, following reported salary issues with Jennette and after she failed to appear at Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, where Sam & Cat won the TV comedy prize.

ARETHA FRANKLIN: Gets No Respect at Restaurant

There was no respect recently for Aretha Franklin at her favorite burger chain. New York's Daily News says that following a concert performance near Niagara Falls last week, the Queen of Soul stopped by a Johnny Rockets restaurant on the Canadian side and ordered take-out. While waiting for her burger and cherry Coke, she sat at an unoccupied table -- but was told by a staffer that she couldn't sit there.

Franklin tells the Daily News, “I said, ‘Excuse me, what do you mean I can’t sit here?” When the worker said the seats were only for customers eating there, Aretha replied she'd eat in, instead of taking it out -- but that still was not good enough. Even after Franklin's nephew told the worker who she was, there was no bending of the rules -- even for a 72-year-old superstar. Franklin finally got fed up -- rather than fed -- and left, telling the clerk, “You should eat it yourself and you pay for it.”

While the night left a sour taste with Franklin, she isn't blaming Johnny Rockets -- only that location. “I like Johnny Rockets and I’ll go on liking Johnny Rockets, but not that one.”

BILLY JOEL: Are You in a Hamptons State of Mind?

If you're looking for somewhere special to vacation this summer, Billy Joel has just the place for you. He has yet to sell the oceanfront home he owns in the ritzy Hamptons enclave on Long Island, New York, and it's been sitting empty since he and third wife Katie Lee split up in 2009.

It's now available as a summer rental. Someone with $250,000 to spare can have it for a month-long escape in August. It was also offered for the entire summer -- from Memorial Day to Labor Day -- for $450,000.

Joel bought the house from actor Roy Scheider in 2007 for $19 million. It was completely renovated in 2009 by designer Nate Berkus and has four bedrooms, six bathrooms, four fireplaces and various decks and porches with water views. The rental agent

After it was announced that Joel will receive the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the Library of Congress, House Speaker John Boehner took some of Joel's songs and worked them into a press release regarding the nation's jobs situation. With the title 14 of Our Recent Greatest Hits on Jobs, Boehner wrote:

"No, 'We Didn’t Start the Fire' of uncertainty that has small businesses in Southwest Ohio and nationwide struggling under ObamaCare," and "Yet the president just has to be a 'Big Shot,' bragging about his policies when Americans are having a tough time."

"On top of all this, the president’s 'Shameless' push for 'economic patriotism' would just make things worse, with even more jobs 'Movin' Out' of the country." And "So 'Say Goodbye to Hollywood,' Mr. President, and work with us to help grow the middle class and expand opportunity for everyone, from the 'Piano Man' to the 'Uptown Girl.'"

BRITNEY SPEARS: Zap Away the Fat?

Most people try to lose weight through diet and exercise, but according to a new report, Britney Spears is going the high-tech route -- by using lasers to melt off the extra pounds.

Britain's Daily Mail says that Brit was spotted at an L.A. dermatologist's office earlier this week, where she was perusing pamphlets about a procedure that supposedly zaps fat cells and destroys them, leading to weight loss.

In an interview with Shape magazine earlier this year, she admitted that old-fashioned weight loss methods are draining, saying, "I'm doing 90 minutes of yoga twice a week in addition to lots of cardio -- hour-long sessions three times a week with my trainer, Tony Martinez. I like it, then again, I hate it. I'm in my 30s now, so I have to work harder to keep it up."

KEITH URBAN: Fans Hospitalized at Show

Looks like Saturday’s Keith Urban concert got a little too wild in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Billboard reports that emergency crews from six neighboring towns were called to the Xfinity Center, which is located 30 miles south of Boston, following numerous reports of alcohol-related illness.

Fire officials declared a mass casualty incident at the venue, which indicates a large number of people with potential illnesses or injuries. According to fire and police reports cited on, 46 people required medical treatment and 22 were transported to a local hospital. In addition to an unspecified number of arrests for intoxication, more than 50 people were taken into protective custody.

REPORT: Inside the Crumbling Marriage of Jay Z and Beyoncé

Is it true thatBeyonce will file for divorce as soon as her tour with hubby Jay Zconcludes?

The Solange elevator video is just the tip of the iceberg of the marital issues for music's number-one couple.

Her sister accused Hova of sleeping around with Rihanna! An unnamed friend admits (quote) “It’s not out of the realm of possibility.”

Beyonce and Jay act very happy in public. They should be: On the Run could pass 100 million dollars in revenue. It makes business sense for them to maintain the partnership. The tour has another 10 days to go.

However, behind closed doors, people are saying it’s very tense. The only time they spend together is when they’re on stage.

A source is certain that they’re headed for a split (quote) “Knowing them as I do, obviously there’s a little something to certain rumors.”

They’re notoriously private. Her sisters must pass through security before visiting. And friends have difficulty reaching them (quote) “Beyoncé and Jay Z both change their cellphone numbers every two weeks.”  Source: New York Post
