*LIST* THE WORST CITIES FOR SUMMER VACATIONS

The summer travel season is expected to be busy, with more than 200-million Americans heading to destinations across the country and beyond. While national parks and beaches are always popular choices for getaways this time of year, some places are more inviting than others and new research from Forbes Advisor reveals the places you probably want to avoid.

  • Their list of the worst cities for summer travel is out, highlighting less desirable locations for this season.
  • To come up with the ranking, the group compared 43 metro areas in the U.S. on factors including crime, prices, ease of travel and extreme weather.
  • Topping their list is Jacksonville, Florida, which scores a perfect 100, but not in a good way.
  • The city is considered the worst because it has poor walkability, a lack of public transportation, a high crime rate, and then there’s the heat and humidity in the summer, which is uncomfortable, to say the least.
  • Jacksonville International Airport also has the second-highest percentage of disrupted summer flights (28.9% on average).
  • On the flip side, according to Forbes Advisor, the best summer vacation city in the country is Minneapolis. Long Beach, California is second, followed by Washington, D.C.
