The thousands of athletes in Paris for the Summer Olympics are probably so busy training and competing in their events, there’s not much time for anything else, right? Well, they’re in the best shape of their lives and their endorphins and testosterone are soaring, and it seems they’re not letting all that go to waste. So they’re using dating apps to find their hookups in the “City of Love.”
It seems users on several dating apps are changing their locations to Paris to boost their chances of matching with an Olympian during the Olympics. A spokesperson at Bumble reports, “In the lead up to the Games, we’ve seen an increase in people changing their Bumble profile location to Paris and adding mentions of the Paris Games in their bios.”
And they’re doing it on Tinder as well. According to a spokesperson for the app, since the beginning of July, there’s been a nearly 20% increase in swiping activity in France. There’s also been a 103% increase in use of Tinder’s Passport Mode - a feature that lets users “search by city or drop a pin on the map” so they can like, match and chat with users in that destination. The dating site also reports that “there has been an increase in the number of users with the job descriptions ‘Olympian’ - up 52% - and “athlete” - up 43% - in Tinder users’ profiles in Paris.
