Washington State University’s Corpse Flower Blooms Again

The tallest and stinkiest plant in existence has bloomed again at Washington State University's Vancouver campus. The corpse flower gets its name from the stench of rotting flesh it emits when it blooms. Only a few dozen are growing in captivity in the U.S. Over the weekend, the plant produced a five-foot, five-inch-tall bloom. It’s only supposed to bloom once every four to six years, but it’s the third year in a row to bloom. Experts think an over watering accident a few years ago caused the plant to clone itself. It's been blooming almost every year since. When it does, thousands of people flock to the WSU campus to see it.
