Whether it’s speeding or checking your phone when driving, we’re all guilty of some bad behaviors behind the wheel. Even though we all know better, we still do it, but it turns out, some states are worse offenders than others and new research reveals which ones they are.
- A new survey of 5-thousand drivers (100 from each state) from Forbes Advisor uncovers the states with the worst driving habits and America’s worst driving habits.
- Overall, 94% consider themselves to be good drivers, but 50% admit their driving behavior has gotten worse since the pandemic.
- Drivers in Virginia think they’re the best drivers, with 99% claiming they’re good drivers, but the research shows they’re the 14th worst state for driving behaviors.
- Tennessee is the best state for driving habits, followed by Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida.
- According to the survey, Hawaii is the worst state for driving behavior. Drivers there top the list for changing lanes or turning without signaling, speeding 20 miles per hour or more over the speed limit and running red lights.
- Americans’ worst driving habit is speeding less than 10 mph over the speed limit, something 39% admit to doing in the last month.
