The Bea Arthur Love Continues In 'Deadpool 2' Because Why Not?

Believe it or not, the Golden Girls' Dorothy Zbornak (played by Bea Arthur) will be appearing in the upcoming Deadpool sequel, as per a new social media message from Ryan Reynolds. Well, kind of.

Reynolds teased Arther's appearance some time ago, but the reveal of the handy weapon arrived late last week. Yep, he's named his weapon after the famed actress. Keeping it short and sweet, Reynolds captioned the shot, writing, "May 18. #MaximumEffort."

The Deadpool franchise is no stranger to showing the Golden Girls some love. In fact, Reynolds' character previously rocked a Bea Arthur t-shirt in the first installment and it was a pricey investment. "As a producer, I had to approve that $10,000. ... [But], you can't have a Deadpool movie without Bea Arthur," Ryan said in the commentary for the DVD and Blu-Ray version of the film. That fee ended up serving as a donation to her estate's chosen charity.

Back in 2015, the official Twitter account for the film also showed the iconic television series some love when they shared a photo of yarn woven Golden Girls figurines sitting in a kitchen set up next to a woven Deadpool figurine.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18, 2018.
