Wendy Williams Returns To TV Show & Talks About How Her Life Was Saved

Wendy Williams made a triumphant return to her talk show on Monday (March 19) after going on a three-week hiatus to recover from health issues stemming from thyroid problems and Graves' disease, per doctor's orders.

In late February, PEOPLE issued a statement from the entertainment personality that spoke about the break that she was going to take. "My doctor has prescribed — are you ready? — as of today, three weeks of vacation," she announced. "What? Who are you? I was pissed." Williams added: "What I want to say to women, more than men, is stop putting everyone first because if we’re not good, they’re not good."

Now, the talk show host is back and her fans couldn't have been more excited about her return. "Thank you for missing me," Williams told viewers. "Thank you for not replacing us, thank you for being here today." Then, the waterworks began to runneth over. "Thank you for understanding and being my special people," she continued through tears. "I do the show but there are hundreds of people who are the show, and they don't get the credit they deserve. So, thank you to everyone."

Williams also admitted that during her hiatus, she had a number of tests done to her. "I have nine doctors [including Dr. Mehmet Oz] checking me out," she said. Later on in the show, Dr. Oz even came out to speak about Williams' health and recovery. "I had to take three weeks off of work which was horrible but needed," the personality admitted. "Everything was fine until it wasn’t." Dr. Oz responded, "You saved your life."

Before thanking Dr. Oz for everything that he did for her, Williams told her fans: "Go to the doctor, get that checked out. That manicure and pedicure can wait."

We're glad you're doing much better, Wendy!
