Albuquerque — Increase your pet’s chances of returning home if they ever become lost with a free microchip from Albuquerque Animal Welfare!
In ongoing efforts to provide accessible services to every Albuquerque citizen and promote responsible pet ownership, Albuquerque’sAnimal Welfare community outreach initiative microchipped 497 pets for free in the month of November. Our goal is to help prevent pets from getting lost and when they do, to get them back to their owners just as soon as possible.
This free service can be obtained from December 10 through December 15, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Westside Shelter and Eastside Shelter. No appointment is needed.
You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license to microchip your pets. You will need to fill out paperwork so that the microchip can be properly registered to the ID holder. The information that you list on these forms will be the guide to finding you if your pet gets out.
It is essential to ensure that the details linked to each microchip remains up-to-date so that the pet can be successfully identified. Animal Welfare shelters provide free service to check on a pet’s microchip.
