COORDINATED LAUNCH OF HOT AIR BALLOONS HONORING FRONT-LINE WORKERS
“We rise to lift spirits” to honor those who have sacrificed and suffered as front-line workers
Albuquerque, NM – On October 3 and 4, 2020, pilots will come together to launch hot air balloons from various locations throughout Albuquerque and surrounding areas. “Lifting Spirits” was created to provide a visual display of aerostation and bring joy to those witnessing balloons in flight and on the ground. While first initiated in Albuquerque, pilots throughout New Mexico, the United States and around the world have been encouraged to participate.
Hot air and gas balloon pilots have a strong connection with one another and their communities, Lifting Spirits was developed with the hope of creating an opportunity to honor front-line workers, who have served and sacrificed always and especially during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Photos and videos of ascensions will be shared through social media in an effort to connect all the balloon ascensions around the world, using hashtags #LiftingSpirits and #LiftingSpiritsAroundTheWorld
This is an organic grass roots effort, independent of any government or organization which allows any and all hot air balloonists to participate and give back to their local community and lift spirits during this time.
Organized by balloonists in conjunction with balloon clubs from all over the world!
