 The holidays are a joyous time of year for most. But for many people, it triggers depression, anxiety and deep loneliness. A CDC study revealed that people said their mental illness was worse over the holidays. For those suffering 'holiday blues' or worse, there is help available. You can call or text the 24/7 crisis hotline at 988 and be connected with someone you can talk to. The helpline is sharing ways to cope with the holiday blues and some tips include:

  • Connect with others who feel the same way.
  • Journal about what is worrying you the most about the holidays and what you need to make the season better
  • Make post-holiday plans
  • Use the holiday season as an excuse to reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while
  • Boost the quality of the interactions you do have
  • Fill your house with sound
