People May Finally Be Over Pumpkin Spice

Have people finally reached their limit with pumpkin spice? It’s been the king of fall flavors for years now, but new research suggests its reign is coming to an end. According to a new survey, a lot of folks are bored with it, as 45% admit they’re tired of the basic pumpkin spice flavors.

The poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults reveals:

  • More than half (58%) of Americans believe there are better, less popular flavors for the season.
  • Fan-favorite fall flavors like cinnamon (39%), salted caramel (37%) and candy apple (36%) all rank above pumpkin spice (32%) and maple isn’t far behind (28%).
  • A third of respondents even get into arguments about which fall flavor is best.
  • It makes sense that people are ready for something different, as the average American has been indulging in pumpkin spice for eight years.
  • While 59% of people are likely to indulge in fall flavors at different times of the year, some believe pumpkin spice (32%) and candy apple (14%) should be “off limits” during other seasons. But cinnamon and salted caramel can be enjoyed year-round.
  • Just over a third (36%) of those polled admit they get more impatient for the start of fall than any other season and 39% say they enjoy seasonal flavors more during the fall.
  • Fall is the favorite season for 34% of Americans, followed by summer (29%) and winter (12%).
  • That may be why people are more likely to start wishing for fall during the summer than they are to be sad that summer is ending (30% compared to 17%).
  • And 75% of respondents would love for fall to be endless, or would love to live somewhere with fall weather all year.
  • The top signs that fall is almost here are the leaves changing colors and falling (47%) or the first cool breeze in the air (33%).
  • Some fall fanatics start dreaming about falling leaves as early as June (11%), and they say cooler weather (70%), the holidays (52%) and the smells (48%) are the best parts of fall.
