*LIST* The States That Swear The Most

Whether you do it proudly or would never even admit to doing it, everyone curses at some point. And it’s not necessarily a bad thing, depending on the circumstance, as research has shown that profanity can make us feel better, help keep emotions in check and can even help with pain relief. But it seems people in some states let the profanity fly more than others and a new report reveals which ones they are.

  • WordTips analyzed 1.7-million geotagged tweets and used a database of 16-hundred profanities to find the most foul-mouthed places.
  • While New Yorkers have a reputation for their colorful language, New York is 17th on the list.
  • So, who curses the most in the country? Maryland comes in first, with an average of 66.3 out of 1,000 tweets including profanity.
  • The state that swears the least is South Dakota, followed by Vermont and North Dakota.
  • The research also reveals that Baltimore, Maryland, is the city that swears the most. Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is second, and Atlanta is third.
  • The city that swears the least is Lexington, Kentucky, followed by Springfield, Missouri, then Ann Arbor, Michigan.
