Feeling even more stressed out than usual? You’re not alone, as 41% of Americans say they’re at their peak stress of the year so far, according to a new poll. And all that stress leaves the average person feeling like their head is spinning 156 times a year.
The survey of 2-thousand U.S. adults reveals more ways stress is affecting us:
- The average American is having stress headaches three times a week and they blame it for having brain fog that often, too.
- While 30% of respondents are optimistic their stress level will go down by the end of 2024, 26% fear it could actually increase.
- Compared to the past, 38% say 2024 has been more stressful than 2023, but less stressful than 2022 and the years before.
- Still, nearly half (45%) of those polled have never taken a mental health or sick day from work just because of stress.
- People know they’re stressed when they have trouble sleeping (42%), are irritable (37%), feel fatigued (34%), have headaches (33%) and feel worried or paranoid (31%).
- To combat these stress symptoms, some play music (47%), watch their favorite TV shows and movies (39%), have a snack (17%) or a cup of tea (14%).
So what’s stressing everyone out this year?
- Their personal finances (35%)
- The economy (28%)
- Their physical health (25%)
- Family (25%)
- Their mental health (24%)
- The 2024 presidential election (20%)
- The news/other world issues (19%)
- And work (16%)
