Here's Today's Feel-Good Story:
3-year-old Waylon Saunders arrived at the hospital in Ontario legally dead. He had been found face-down in an icy backyard pool and his body temperature was so low that thermometers couldn't get a reading.
The team at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital performed CPR for 3 hours without stopping, and while trying to warm his frozen body.
After 3 hours, Waylon's heart started beating again.
“They had a cycle of people providing CPR in Petrolia. They had people warming him with many different techniques,” said Dr. Janice Tijssen, director of the pediatric critical care unit at Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario.
“There was a big team helping him then, keeping him comfortable as his organs started to heal. Then allowing him to wake up. He’s exceeded all expectations,” Tijssen said.
