GWYNETH PALTROW: Is Goop Full of Poop?
Gwyneth Paltrow has earned a lot of online sarcasm for her "healthy living" site Goop -- but now she's been hit by a legal complaint over what she's peddling.
The non-profit organization Truth in Advertising filed a complaint on Tuesday with the California Food, Drug and Medical Device Task Force, accusing Gwyn's company of promoting "unsubstantiated, and therefore deceptive, health and disease-treatment claims" with multiple endorsements.
It's not the first time Goop has been blasted in recent months: After seeing a supposedly NASA-endorsed item for sale, Mark Shelhamer, former chief scientist at NASA’s human research division, told Gizmodo "Wow. What a load of BS this is." (Fox News)
DAKOTA JOHNSON: Bad Nudes Travel Fast
Dakota Johnson can add her name to the ever-growing list of stars who've had their phones hacked -- and had nude photos shared all over the Internet.
According to Gossip Cop, the Fifty Shades of Grey star was victimized on Tuesday -- just 24 hours after Kristen Stewart, Tiger Woods, Lindsay Vonn and Katharine McPhee were hit by a similarly minded creep. The pictures in question show Johnson naked and alone, topless with several friends by a pool, and in a shower with actress Addison Timlin.
Her lawyer tells the site that she intends to take legal action against the hacker once he or she is found.
JAY THOMAS: Dead at 69
Actor Jay Thomas has died at age 69.
Thomas, who got his showbiz start as a radio DJ, played Jerry Gold on Murphy Brown and had a recurring role as hockey star Eddie LeBec on Cheers. He'll also be remembered for an annual Letterman show holiday tradition in which he would try to knock a meatball off a Christmas tree by throwing a football. In recent years, he hosted a show on satellite radio.
Media reports say that Thomas had suffered from cancer, but there are few details about his ailment. (New York Daily News)
AMY SCHUMER: I'm No Dave Chappelle or Chris Rock
Amy Schumer doesn't think she deserves the same pay as Dave Chappelle or Chris Rock.
Amy grabbed a bunch of attention yesterday (Wednesday) with a nearly nude Instagrampost in which she's holding her dog dressed in a hot dog costume. But the caption was equally attention-grabbing. She wrote, "I believe women deserve equal pay. However I don't believe I deserve equal pay to Chris and Dave. They are legends and two of the greatest comics of all time."
The post came in response to stories that she demanded money from Netflix for her recent standup special, The Leather Special. She says she did turn down the streaming service's initial offer but was happy with the $11 million she got, well short of the $20 million Chappelle and Rock each got for their specials.
GAL GADOT: Wonder Woman Took a Dive!
Wonder Woman always wins -- unless she sets her mind on losing.
Gal Gadot [pr: guh-DOT] was a beauty queen before going into acting, but she hated it -- and tanked her big chance intentionally. She tells Rolling Stone that her parents entered her in the contest that would eventually get her named Miss Israel, which was too much to take.
Gal says, “I knew that I did not want to win Miss Universe. It wasn’t my thing. For an 18-year-old, it looked like too much responsibility.” With that in mind, she opted to lose intentionally by pretending not to speak English and wearing the wrong clothes.
Still smiling at the memory, she concludes, “I lost majorly. I victoriously lost.”
SUPER BOWL 52: Justin Timberlake & Jay-Z at Halftime?
Rumors have started that the NFL wants Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake for the Super Bowl.
They’ve performed together on songs such as "Holy Grail" and "Suit & Tie." Five years ago, they co-headlined the Legends of the Summer Tour.
Timberlake is reportedly planning a new album for early 2018. So the Super Bowl 52 halftime show would be the premiere place to promote it.
However, there’s one major hitch for Justin. He and Janet Jackson caused nipplegate. During halftime in 2004, Justin grabbed Janet’s tear-away costume to expose her breast and nipple ring. The NFL allegedly blacklisted both of them from ever performing at a football game.
Jay-Z could feel the pinch, too. NFL viewership is plummeted due to the National Anthem controversy. Part of the crowd refuses to watch games if NFL teams allow players to sit during the anthem. Others won’t support the NFL because no team will sign quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was the first to take a knee. (Hits Daily Double)
SHANIA TWAIN: Brad Pitt Really Didn't Impress Her Much
Shania Twain says Brad Pitt didn't impress her much, but he did inspire her.
The singer says her 1997 hit "That Don't Impress Me Much" was inspired by nude photos of the Hollywood star. She says, "I remember I had a girlfriend visiting me and it was near Christmas and we were baking cookies. I was writing this album and there was a scandal of [Pitt] and Gwyneth [Paltrow] where there was naked photos of him. “And this was like, all the rage. I just thought, ‘I don’t know what all the fuss is about.’ I’m like, well that don’t impress me much, I mean, what is all the fuss?"
Shania insists she wasn't picking on Pitt. She explains, "that was just the association in that moment and things we make fusses about and whatever. Of course, it could have been any gorgeous guy." (Billboard)
