The Dish for August 31st 2017

ABC is about to announce the next Bachelor and don’t be surprised when it’s Peter Kraus.

He’s the guy who refused to commit to an engagement with Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay. They showed off-the-charts chemistry. Obviously they had deep feelings for each other. Finally, Rachel tearfully dumped Peter and went with her second choice, and now fiancé Brian Abasolo.

Reality Steve got the inside word about Peter Kraus. Last night, Steve tweeted (quote) “Sources are telling me Peter is the next Bachelor. It will be announced soon. He's been the guy they've wanted since Day 1.”

But why would ABC cast the guy with an over-sized fear of commitment? Reality Steve said if that’s your question, then “you don't know how The Bachelor franchise works.”

HURRICANE HARVEY: Telethon in the Works

Hollywood A-listers are joining together to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey.

A telethon is scheduled for September 12th, with Jamie Foxx, Reese Witherspoon, Blake Shelton, Michael Strahan and Hilary Duff promised as hosts.

Jamie made the announcement on Instagram today (Wednesday), saying, "Just wanted to let everyone in Texas know, we got you. From a fellow Texan, my heart goes out. My prayers go out. September 12 we have a telethon that we're doing. We'll give you more details, so we can raise as much money as we can for everybody down there."

Rapper Bun B and the team behind Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester concert are reportedly organizing the star-studded event, which will take place in L.A., New York and Nashville.

Tomi Lahren has joined Fox News. Variety says she'll make her debut on tonight’s (Wednesday's) Hannity. She was recently suspended by The Blaze after coming out in support of abortion.

Composer Alf Clausen has been fired from The Simpsons after 27 years on the show. The two-time Emmy winner tells Variety that producers were seeking “a different kind of music” and that he would no longer be scoring the series.

Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder will star in Destination Wedding, a romantic comedy about two "miserable and unpleasant" wedding guests who fall for each other. The two starred together in Bram Stoker’s Dracula and A Scanner Darkly.

Lily Collins has joined the cast of Tolkien, a bio-pic about Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien. Nicholas Hoult stars.

LEAH REMINI: Scientologists Wanted Her to Convert Kevin James

He was the King of Queens, but Kevin James could have been the King of Scientologists.

His longtime co-star Leah Remini says the church wanted the actress to convert her TV husband. In an interview with People magazine, she says, “They always tried to get me to, [asking] ‘Why is he not in? Why have you not promoted it to him?’ I was like, ‘Because he’s Catholic. He doesn’t want anything to do with it.’ They let it go after a while, but usually you’d be expected to recruit, especially with somebody you work with for nine years.”

In 2013, Leah left the religion. Now, she hosts an A&E docu-series called Scientology and the Aftermath that shows the dark side of the organization.

She's also reuniting with Kevin James as a series regular on his new sitcom, Kevin Can Wait.

TAYLOR SWIFT: No Appearance on GMA

For the past week, Taylor Swift fans had anticipated her appearance today on Good Morning America. They ought to brace for a huge disappointment.

Taylor is not scheduled to perform or sit for an interview with Robin Roberts.

However, a search of the DirecTV guide links Taylor and GMA. That glitch got the Swifties excited.

And it made perfect sense because Taylor partnered with ABC, which incorporated “Look What You Made Me Do” into promos for its Thursday primetime dramas. As well as Saturday’s NCAA football kickoff between number-one Alabama and number-three Florida State. (TMZ)

Richard Simmons Suffers Setback in Lawsuit

Richard Simmons June2015 National Enquirer

Richard Simmons suffered a legal setback yesterday in his lawsuit against the National Enquirer.

The judge agreed with the tabloid that “there is nothing inherently bad about being transgender.”

This is a victory for trans rights. Judge Keosian confessed that transgendered persons are often harassed and hated, however (quote) “The court will not validate those prejudices by legally recognizing them.”

So even though the National Enquirer falsely reported that Simmons was transitioning to a woman, it’s not a case of defamation. The civil suit hasn’t concluded, but it could be that Simmons transitions toward a withdrawing his lawsuit.

KENDALL JENNER: "Fashion Icon of the Decade" Honors

New York Fashion Week is about to honor Kendall Jenner as the “Fashion Icon of the Decade.”

Never mind that when this incomplete decade started, Kendall was just a freckled-face 13-year-old tomboy with a totally different nose.

Twitter went berserk bashing Fashion Week's decision. It’s been called a tragic mistake and yet another ding on her reputation. This year, Kendall’s been shamed for not tipping at a nightclub and appearing in the offensive Pepsi commercial. (Fashion Week Daily)

Celeb Contacts Revealed by Instagram Hack

Hackers obtained private contact information of several verified Instagram users.

You can bet that Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Dwayne Johnson and Ariana Grande are forced this weekend to change phones.

Instagram admitted they had a flaw in their coding. They said (quote) “One or more individuals obtained unlawful access. We fixed the bug swiftly and are running a thorough investigation.”

Apparently, passwords were not exposed. So this breach in Instagram accounts wouldn’t automatically explain the hack on Selena Gomez. The pranksters posted full-frontal naked photos of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Kids of O.J. Simpson Disturbed Dad’s Going Free

In another month, O.J. Simpson will walk out of prison a free man. His kids will not be there to greet him.

Sydney and Justin Simpson won’t go near their dad. Back in the '90s, he escaped conviction of murdering their mom, Nicole Brown Simpson. But they know the truth and for years completely ignored O.J. around Father’s Day. They won’t return his calls or texts.

Only his oldest daughter, from his first marriage, has a relationship with O.J. Arnelle Simpson spoke last month on his behalf at the parole hearing, saying, (quote) “We just want him to come home. I know in my heart he’s been very humbled throughout this situation.” (New York Post)
