Popcorn is America’s number one movie night companion - that must be a fact since about six billion quarts are consumed each year.
Popcorn played a key role in saving movie theaters during the depression. While movie theaters began to shut down, some owners figured a snack bar would raise more profit, and popcorn was their largest profit margin, a manager at Film Forum told CBS News. Popcorn is one of the country’s oldest snacks and it looks like it’s not poppin’ anywhere far while movies keep on filming.
