TWENTY ONE PILOTS: Solid Gold Blurryface
Twenty One Pilots have entered the record books.
The band's Blurryface has become the first album ever to have each cut receive at least an RIAA Gold certification. Billboard reports that "Hometown" was the final track to pass the half million-unit plateau, which qualifies it as Gold.
The publication points to a 2013 rule change that now counts a weighted number of streams as digital single sales as the catalyst for Twenty One Pilots' unique accomplishment. That's not to diminish it -- the rule has been in effect five years already and no one else has done it.
Here's the full certification list for the album:
- “Stressed Out” - 7x Platinum (7-million sales, downloads and equivalent streams)
- “Ride” - 4x Platinum
- “Tear in My Heart” - 2x Platinum
- “Heavydirtysoul,” “Fairly Local,” “Lane Boy” - Platinum
- “The Judge,” “Doubt,” “Polarize,” “We Don't Believe What's on TV,” “Message Man,” “Not Today,” “Goner,” “Hometown” - Gold (500,000 units)
