Retailers are starting to pay attention to this fact: the average woman in America is a size 14. And the most frustrating thing for these women? Not being able to wear certain brands.
Well, that’s changing! J. Crew is the latest store to offer plus sizes, which they’ll have from xxs to 5x. And sure, they’re late on the draw, but they say there’s a reason – they wanted to proceed “thoughtfully."
While it’s not super cheap (the threads will range from $50 to $150) you’ll be able to choose from a full line of tops, pants, skirts anddresses.
And a couple of things to think about as J. Crew takes this welcome step? Of the 300 or so labels that showed at New York Fashion Week last season, just 32 offer up to at least a size 16, and just 14 produce sizes 22 and above.
