Just when you thought you were doing your body good by enjoying a glass of wine or a bottle of beer, along comes a new global study to shut down the party.
Despite previous studies linking health benefits to moderate drinking, the Global Burden of Disease study finds that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption. Researchers say although moderate drinking may protect against heart disease, there are many other risks that outweigh those benefits.
The study reviewed data of 28 million people worldwide and found that regular drinking can have a negative effect on the body's organs and tissues and can lead to many health problems including cancer. The risks also greatly increase with more drinking. (CBS News)
