It’s no secret that being a parent is a full time job, but you’d think there would be at least a few hours of the day where you can have some alone time. Well, the truth you'd be wrong.

A survey of 2,000 moms and dads finds that once work and parenting duties are over, most parents get a little over 30 minutes to themselves every day. Things get so bad that most parents will hide from their children four times a week to get some time for themselves, while most will let their kids watch TV or play with devices five times a week just so they can get a break from parenting.

Most parents say they spend 18 hours a day directly taking care of their kids, with 24% saying it’s more like 30 hours a week. What’s more, 32% of parents say that when you factor in parenting duties, they don’t actually stop “working” until at least 8 pm each night. Such duties include taking kids to and from school and other activities. Plus, most parents will make five trips to the grocery store per week, and deal with disciplining their children five times per week.

Parents are so busy, that 88% of them say they don’t usually have time to cook each night, with most of them relying on takeout. In fact, 54% of parents say the main reason they order takeout is because they're too busy, which results in parents spending $4,524 every year.
