Police Officer Adopts Kitten He Saved From Freeway

A police officer in Kansas City took an oath to protect and serve the citizens -- regardless of how many legs they have -- and now he has a new member of the family.

Officer Jason Smith was driving along Interstate 29 when he spotted a frightened kitten stranded on a divider. He pulled over, and with his body camera recording, approached the crying kitten.

Smith carried the rescued cat into his patrol car and immediately fell in love with his grateful little friend as he drove her back to the station.

After the kitten received some care at a local animal shelter, Officer Smith decided to adopt her and bring her home to his family. They've decided to call her Bella. (KMBC-TV)
