Verizon is rolling out its free spam call blocker.
Yesterday, the nation's biggest wireless provider said the free features are now available for Android and iPhone users. The Verizon Call Filter detects unwanted robocalls, filters them and lets the customer report numbers. It also gives an alert when an incoming call is likely to be spam, and sends a blocked call straight to voicemail.
Verizon already offers Call Filter as a monthly paid service. Those who continue to pay for it will get Caller ID that identifies the names of unknown callers, and the ability to create personal block lists. As a bonus, it also blocks spam texters.
To activate Call Filter, install the app, or just enable the protection as an account add-on.
