Study: The "Sugar Rush” Is A Myth

If you try and get a boost during your day from a burst of sugar, don’t bother. It turns out that sugar rush doesn’t exist.

Sugary snacks and desserts may put a smile on people's faces, but a new study says the sugar in those foods doesn't actually improve their mood. Researchers from three European universities looked at whether a "sugar rush" could really brighten people's moods.

They found that if anything, the reverse is true. Their study says sugar has virtually no effect on mood, and there is no rush, no matter how much is consumed. In fact, test subjects who consumed sugar were more tired than those who didn't. As far as being more happy… not going to happen.

If you need a boost during the day, grab some protein instead.
