Ingredient Combos May Be the Reason You Can't Stop Eating Certain Foods


In a new study published in the journal Obesity on Tuesday, researchers found that pairings of ingredients may be responsible for the reason that people can't stop eating certain foods, UPI reports. These so-called "hyper-palatable" foods like snacks and fast-food, are loaded with combinations of fat and sodium, fat and simple sugars, and carbohydrates and sodium. Study author Tera Fazzino said, "the synergy between key ingredients... creates an artificially enhanced palatability experience that is greater than any key ingredient would produce alone." Fazzino says the results of the study could help policymakers to create better warning labels on foods, and improve consumer diets, particularly in kids. Read more here
