Taylor Swift Says She Isn't Allowed To Perform Her Old Songs

The war betweenTaylor SwiftandScooter BruanandScott Borchettajust got even nastier.Back in July, Taylor blasted the pair over the sale of her old label Big Machine Label Group, which meant Scooter owned her masters. Well, now Taylor took to her Instagram Story to reveal that she was planning to perform a medley of her hits on the “American Music Awards” later this month in celebration of her Artist of the Decade Award, but the pair won’t let her.

“Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun have now said I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year,” she explains.

And that’s not all. She shares that she has been working with Netflix on a documentary about her life, but Scooter and Scott won’t let her older music or performance footage be used in the project, unless she agrees to a few stipulations, including agreeing to not “re-record copycat version of my songs next year,” which she says she’s legally allowed to do. Plus, she has to agree to stop talking about both men.

  • “The message being sent to me is very clear. Basically be a good little girl and shut up or you’ll be punished,” she writes. “This is WRONG. Neither of these men had a hand in writing those songs. They did nothing to create the relationship I have with my fans. So this is where I’m asking for your help.”
  • She then asks fans to let Braun and Borchetta know how they feel, and to also appeal to other artists they manage to “talk some sense into the men who are exercising tyrannical control over someone who just wants to play the music she wrote.”
  • Finally she notes, “I just want to be able to perform MY OWN music. That’s it.” She also notes that her AMA performance and Netflix doc are now "a question mark." Check out the full post below.
  • Meanwhile, sources tellTMZthat Taylor owes Big Machine more than $7-million, as well as masters and video content. They claim Borchetta and Braun attempted to meet with her to work things out but she refused and threatened to go public if they didn’t give her what she wanted.
  • ONE MORE THING!Not long after she shared her post, the hashtag#IStandWithTaylorstarted trending. Someone also started a Change.org petiton, which has already received over 20,000 signatures. Check it outHERE
