The FBI arrested a man for calling in sick with COVID-19.Santwon Daviswas charged on Thursday with defrauding his employer.
Davis worked for a Fortune 500 company. Due to his fake diagnosis, they unnecessarily quarantined employees, closed their doors for days and spent a small fortune disinfecting the offices.
An investigation uncovered Davis’s deception. It started once he learned in mid-March at a company-wide seminar that workers were guaranteed to be paid if quarantined. Davis called in sick for several days before the boss demanded proof of infection. He provided a fake, unsigned letter from a hospital that did not perform COVID tests. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
