It’s been months since kids have seen the inside of their schools, and while teaching the little ones at home isn’t easy, most parents prefer it to them being back in classrooms. The same goes for returning in the fall.
A recentUSA Today/Ipsospoll found that 60% of parents with at least one child in grades K-12 are considering homeschooling in the fall, because they just don’t feel safe sending their kids back. 30% say they are "very likely" to keep their kids home.
And it’s not just parents. 1 in 5 teachers say they are unlikely to go back to their classrooms if school reopens in the fall.
According to Ipsos president Chris Young, “While Americans are optimistic about a return to in-person learning, there is angst among teachers, parents and America at large about how to keep our schools safe if the virus isn’t fully contained."
