The U.S. Government Is Selling Seized Fyre Fest Merch for as Little as $10

  • Want to own a piece of music festival history--or just need some cheap duds? Either way, the U.S. government has got you covered. The New York Postreports that apparel from the infamously disastrous Fyre Festival is now up for bid at an auction house in Texas--some for as little as $10. “This Fyre Festival-branded clothing and other items that were seized from [festival creator] Billy McFarland were originally intended to be sold at the Fyre Festival itself, but were kept by McFarland, with the intent to sell the items and use the funds to commit further criminal acts while he was on pre-trial release,” the U.S. Marshals Service says in a statement. “The proceeds from the sale of these items, all traceable to McFarland’s $26 million fraud, will go toward the victims of his crimes.” There are 126 items up for auction in total, including two pairs of yellow jogger sweatpants, a black, Fyre-branded baseball cap and a pair of black wristbands bearing the words “Conspiracy to change the entertainment industry." Well, it sure was a conspiracy all right! Read more here
