From work to school, COVID-19 has changed a lot—especially travel.
Travel restrictions have impacted a lot of wishes at the Make-A-Wish foundation, but for five-year-old Mikey, his wish went just as planned.
The five-year-old, who was released from the hospital over the weekend after battling leukemia, had no idea that at the end of a surprise homecoming parade would be his actual surprise: the goldendoodle puppy he wished for.
Now this family is about to grow by four paws. Mikey wished for a goldendoodle named Archie. The 9-week-old pup traveled all the way here from New York thanks to Make-A-Wish.
According to the foundation, 70 percent of wishes are travel related, and most of them have been postponed.
"We want people to understand that no wishes are being canceled," said Sara Lister, CEO of Make-A-Wish New Mexico. "But there are wishes like Mikey's that are still happening, and so we want to celebrate those."
