Experts Say Don’t Eat in Front of the TV

Yes, we all do it – but a newstudyhas found that if we snack while watching TV, we end up eating a lot more … because we’re not able to tell when we’re full. Researchers from the University of Sussex in England found that the more our brains focus on something, like watching TV, the less it’s able to signal when we should stop eating or drinking.

“Our study suggests that if you’re eating or drinking while your attention is distracted by a highly engaging task, you’re less likely to be able to tell how full you feel. You’re more likely to keep snacking than if you’d been eating while doing something less engaging,” said Professor Martin Yeomans.
