Adele made her debut as “Saturday Night Live” host this weekend and while many fans were upset that would mean she wouldn’t sing, that turned out not to be the case.
While H.E.R. was the actual musical guest, Adele did wind up singing some of her biggest hits in a “Bachelor” sketch, where she played a heightened version of herself looking for love, while breaking out into song at every turn. She wound up singing bits of such classics as “Rumor Has It,” “Hello,” “When We Were Young,” “Rolling In The Deep,” and finally, “Someone Like You.”
- Adele joked about her weight loss in the monologue, noting, "I know I look really, really different since you last saw me, but actually because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me. And this is the half I chose."
- The singer also had a hard time keeping a straight face during a sketch towards the end of the night, where she and Kate McKinnon played divorcees boasting about the benefits of visiting Africa, which featured lots of sexual innuendos as shirtless Black men walked behind hem carrying White women.
