Visits to Santa Won't be the Same this Year

This year, kids are going to have to speak up when they tell Santa what they want for Christmas.

Although retailers all over the country are moving forward with plans to have the North Pole's most famous resident meet with children, this year's visits will be unlike any other year. For starters, sitting on Santa's lap will be off-limits; in fact, most outlets are planning to enforce their state's six-foot distancing rule, says retail consultant Michael Brown. In most locations, both Santa and his visitors will be required to wear masks -- even when posing for photos, Brown adds.

Last year, more than 10 million U.S. parents brought their children to visit Santa in malls and stores, according toGlobalData Retail.Nearly 73 percent of them went on to spend money at the location, data reveals.
