The viral social media app TikTok is adding more tools for parents to protect kids while using the app.
The new features include the ability to limit who can see the child's content, block specific search terms, users and hashtags, and limit who can comment on their videos (everyone, friends, no one).
One of the biggest changes is parents being able to control if their child’s Liked Videos section is viewable by others.
The social platform launched its parental controls earlier this year through Family Pairing, where a teen user's account is linked to an adult's. TikTok was fined five-point-seven million dollars by the FTC in 2019 for violating the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule.
