Real ID Deadline Is Pushed Back To 2023


If you rushed last year to get your REAL ID taken care of, good for you! It turns out that you didn't have to hurry! The Department of Homeland Security has pushed back the deadline to get the updated identification for airline travel to May 3rd, 2023. The main reason is because of the COVID pandemic. Many DMV offices across the country closed or had limited service during the last year. The REAL ID designation is a star on your driver's license or identification card. Once the program is completely in place, you will need it to get through airport security if you are 18-years-old and up.
