Study Says Gardening Is Good for You

Here’s a good reason to get in the dirt. A new study found that gardening just twice a week improves your well-being and reduces stress. And if you garden every day, it’s even better. In fact, it has the same impact on your health and happiness as running or biking every day.

“When gardening, our brains are pleasantly distracted by nature around us. This shifts our focus away from ourselves and our stresses, thereby restoring our minds and reducing negative feelings,” said lead author Dr. Lauriane Chalmin-Pui of Britain’s Royal Horticultural Society.
