The past year-and-a-half has seen so many product shortages -- mostly caused by the pandemic -- on everything from toilet paper and hand sanitizer to ketchup and chorine -- and now foam can join the list.
Yes, foam -- as in the soft material that's stuffed into couch cushions, mattresses, car seats and so many other items. Many foam-producing plants in the South, including several in Texas, were shut down for a while early in the year due to harsh winter weather and that's caused a backlog in the production of propylene oxide, which is the chemical used to make foam.
The shortage is causing delays on things like furniture, boats, and other construction items. (International Business Times)
