Back-to-school shopping has begun -- and parents are splurging. According to anew study, parents are spending an average of $843 per kid on back-to-school supplies. That's up from an average of $707 per kid last year -- though 2020 was much different for kids and parents when it came to back-to-school needs.
37% of parents say they are starting their back-to-school shopping earlier this year, with 51% saying they plan to start back-to-school shopping before August. 67% say they are starting early to help stay on budget and 59% said starting early lets them take advantage of sales.
What are parents buying? Clothes (70%), school supplies (43%) and backpacks (39%) are the top three things parents are buying for back-to-school.
