Amazon Could Be Opening Department Stores Soon

After years of driving department stores out of business, Amazon is getting into the game -- with a plan to open dozens of its own all-in-one retail outlets.

TheWall Street Journalis reporting that Amazon has hatched a plan to open a series of stores that sound a whole lot like old-school department stores, selling clothing, household goods, electronics and other items that customers have learned to buy online. The initial locations will hit California and Ohio will be about 30,000 square feet, which is smaller than the typical department store, but much larger than the Amazon Go stores the company introduced a while back.
