Mysterious Radio Signals Baffle Astronomers

Astronomers at the University of Sydney’s Institute for Astronomy have discovered radio signals coming from the direction of the center of our galaxy and have no idea what could be causing them. The signal flickers on and off at irregular intervals for weeks at a time before ‘switching off’ and going dark, behavior that doesn’t match any known space objects.

They’ve ruled out pulsars and other known types of objects, but they’ve also ruled out another possible source…aliens. Professor Tara Murphy, talking about the radio waves, says “we don’t know exactly what is causing them, we are confident it’s a natural, astronomical source.”
