Some People May Have To Give Back The Stimulus Money!

Many people lost loved ones in the pandemic and the stimulus is being confused by that.

While you have to file taxes for the time before your loved one passed, it may give you stimulus money you shouldn’t get. It turns out, if the person died before January 1st and you got stimulus money for them, you’ll have to pay it back.

To make things more confusing, if a stimulus check recipient received the payment in both names, it must be sent back to the IRS and include a letter asking for a new direct payment to be mailed back with just the surviving spouse’s name.

You can visit the IRS website for more guidance.
