The end of the pandemic lockdown is an exciting thing for most of us - but not necessarily for your pets. Our furry friends have gotten used to having us around over the last year, and that can cause 'separation anxiety' - which can lead to stained carpets and chewed-up slippers. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take now to prepare your pets:
- Trial separation- separate from your pet behind a door or in their crate as 'practice'. Try it for short periods at first, then gradually increase them.
- Leave a treat behind when you go- or maybe even a trail of small treats so your pet has something to do while you're gone.
- Give your pet a good workout before leaving- burning off all that energy will leave your pet more content when you leave.
