When the CDC said that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks, a lot of us breathed a big sigh of relief -- literally.
But there are a lot of people out there who aren’t quite ready to give up on masking up, even if the experts say you’re safe. Why not? They just don’t trust other people.
Only about half of American adults have been fully vaccinated, and there’s simply no way to know if that unmasked person in the store, or in the ladies room, or on the bus is one of them. And even though so-called “breakthrough cases” are exceedingly rare, people don’t want to risk getting COVID.
One reader tellsUSA Today, "Using the honor system doesn't work. People who have refused to wear a mask from the beginning are the ones who aren't getting vaccinated and continue to go out in public."
