Do you sleep in a different bedroom from your spouse or significant other? You're not alone -- one in four couples sleep separately.
But that doesn't mean there's anything wrong. Couples sleep apart for numerous reasons, including snoring, frequent trips to the bathroom and incompatible sleep schedules. Yale professor Dr. Meir Kryger, author ofThe Principles and Practice of Sleep Medicine, says, "For a lot of couples, sleeping apart can be the best thing for their relationship ... There's no research that suggests that couples who sleep apart for the purpose of better sleep have any less of a romantic connection than couples who share a bed."
One thing experts agree on: If you have kids, make sure they understand that you and your partner still love each other. You can explain why you're sleeping separately, but also be sure to show affection in front of them. (USA Today)
