Have you ever stopped to consider why you feel tired during the day? Maybe you aren’t sleepy but are instead fatigued. Dr. Alex Dimitriu, founder of Menlo Park Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine, tells Real Simple that there is a difference, and that if you have low energy, low motivation or can’t sleep, then you are likely fatigued
Some sources of fatigue include physical conditions like pregnancy, anemia, being overweight or side effects from medicine. The cause could also be mental or emotional. Anxiety and depression can often make it difficult for the body to come to a state of rest. One thing we can all consider, too, is if our sleep environment is conducive to rest. Is it too light, too loud, is it time to replace your pillows or mattress? The important thing is to seek help from your doctor once you’ve determined that your issue is medical in nature.
