New Study Says "Simple Carbs" Don't Make You Fat

A study published in the peer-reviewed journal, "Advances In Nutrition," concludes that ‘fast carbs’ like white bread are no more likely to make you fat than ‘slow carbs’ like whole grains, vegetables, and beans. The ‘slow carbs’ have long been touted as helping with weight loss and a healthy diet.

The study collected data from almost two million adults and “revealed no consistent differences in BMI when comparing the highest with the lowest dietary groups.”

So if carbs aren’t making you fat, what is? The study says that things like age, genetics, physical activity, insulin sensitivity, and BMI impact body weight, fat, and waist size.
